LOCAL ATTRACTIONS IN LANCASHIRE

The Area

Marsh Farm is ideally situated between both its neighboring towns of Preston and Blackpool within easy access of the M6 motorway.

Marsh Farm Hall and Holiday Accomodation offers a base from which a wide and varied range of locations and attractions can be accessed. Great Eccleston itself is a small village but has local facilities to aid your holiday. Local markets, independent shops, traditional pubs and renowned restaurants.

To the WEST is the counties’ renowned sea side resort of Blackpool. A haven for the children with its attractions – including Blackpool Tower, The Opera House and the world famous Pleasure Beach. There is also Fleetwood with its Freeport retail park and the more tranquil town of Lytham St Annes, with the Royal Lytham golf course.

To the NORTH is The Lake District an area of outstanding beauty. You can be there within one hour enjoying the scenery or a hill side work or just soaking up the character of places like Windermere and Ambleside, visiting the home of Beatrix Potter. There is also the less well know Morecambe sea side resort and the historic university city of Lancaster.

SOUTH of Marsh Farm gives you access to some of Lancashire’s famous towns. Preston is a short distance away, good parking gives access to major shopping areas. In less than an hour you can be in Manchester. Here, as well as the shopping at The Trafford Centre, you can visit Galleries and Museums, including the Lowry Centre the Science and Imperial War Museums. You can even spend time on the set of ‘Coronation Street’ with a visit to Granada Studios and take advantage of seeing a major musical at the Manchester Opera House and Palace Theatre. Slightly further afield, but still offering a good day out is the port city of Liverpool. The re-developed docklands is worth a visit with its art galleries, stores, eating places and the famous Beatles Museum and visit the National Football Museum.

To the EAST we have a vast array of local eating places and country public houses. Set in delightful country side, some next to the Lancaster canal, after a busy day elsewhere you can relax in a pleasant dining environment. There is also the local town of Garstang with its weekly market and why not have a picnic or leisurely stroll on the Trough of Bowland and Beacon Fell County Park.
